Description

in this lesson, students will be able to express their inner feelings of love and gratitude towards the ones who really influence their lives positively. the students will be able to talk fluently and if there is any mistake, it will be handled in the delayed feedback. the lesson will begin with a video presenting some people thanking their mothers and how much influence she has on their lives. this video will involve them emotionally in the context. then i will break the ice with them through asking more personal questions about the one who is as important as the one mentioned in the video. after that they will answer some questions together and discuss them with me. then they will listen for gist and after that scan and then for detailed if needed. after this, they will be exposed to the production itself where they speak about the most important one in their lives in a whole perfect manner.

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a Discussion and speeches in the context of Influential people

  • To provide gist and detailed listening practice using a text about Influence in the context of influential people

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

i will use a 2 minute video of some great actors thanking their all mothers and before watching it, i will put two questions for them on the board, so that they can think of their answers while watching the video. the questions: 1-who do you think of while watching this video? my mother 2-does this person make a difference in your life? how?

Exposure (10-15 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

it will be composed of some stsages: first: in pairs they will discuss two questions in the material and then share their answers with me. second: k will make them kisten to some audios for gist:asking about whether the influenceof the people talked about was positive or negative and asking them to put a title if they want. third: they will listen to the second time for scanning to tell me the names or the titles of the influntial persons mentioned. fourth: i will ask them if they want to listen foe one more time to answer the below question. and if they want then the listenning will be for details. fifth: they wil answer an MCQ together and then share their answers with me.

Useful Language (2-3 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

i will just highlight some of the used expressions in the listening so that trhey can use them in their speaking afterwards. maybe some of them can give me some examples too.

Productive Task(s) (5-7 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

i will give some line about someone they love and once i end, i will ask them to write about the exact person showed up in their imajination while i was talking. i might tell them to look to the qustions mentioned in the page to help them if they like and then for a minute they can think individually of that persi=on and after that sahre their answers with their coleagues in one or two minutes and then i will give them my feedback in 2 to 5 minutes.

Feedback and Error Correction (2-4 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

My delayed feedback wil be introduced at the end of the class in about 3 or 4 minutes and then the class ends. it will be produced through asking them to tell me if they finf=d any mistakes and i will let them correct these mistakes themselves.
