Description

in this lesson, students are going to read a text which is two part about favorite times.on page 46 American file 1. The lesson starts with two questions about holidays and the happiest day of the year.before starting to read, some keywords is going to be pre-taught. then student read the first part of the text after that students are going to answer two question about the text. in the second part students after reading the text are going to complete the text with given phrases.(close reading) then I ask them to find and underline some words in the text (scanning) after finding the words i ask students to guess the meaning of words and look them up in the dictionary or say their meaning.after this part student are going to talk about different reading sub skills(skimming.scanning)and finally give them some questions they should write about it and discuss their answers in the group.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher starts the class by asking some questions about the holidays and the happiest day of the year and brainstorm Iran holidays and their happiest day in the year.in 3- 5 five minutes.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

students look at the title and say their ideas about it.The following words should be pre-taught here: new year resolution. fourth of July. fireworks

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

the student are going to read the text and then they will answer. this questions. what's special about the third Monday in January and the third Friday in June?

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

students are going to read the text and fill the gaps with given phrases.check their answers in pairs.underline asked words and phrases then guess their meaning.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

as a activation part I'm going to give them some question first they should answer the questions by writing about themselves and then discuss their answers within in the group.
