Main Aims

  • To provide detailed reading practice using a text about American File in the context of Food

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of Food items in the context of food

Procedure

Naming the items (3-5 minutes) • Whole class engagement

Students will look at some pictures and they will be asked to classify them

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

They will read Marco's text quickly and they will be asked to match bold words with pictures and soon after, their answers will be checked and they will be asked to go to page 123 so on that page students get a chance to learn new words on eating and drinking and at the same time another opportunity will be given to them to classify new vocabularies as breakfast, lunch, dinner and healthy and junk food.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

They will be asked to go back to page 30 and read the other two text to underline the new or difficult words.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

In the last stage they will be asked to read the texts again and provide answer to the questions.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Now they start working in pairs ask and answer each other questions about food
