Procedure (43-45 minutes)
T tells a story of a friend who was not lucky in her first marriage to an Egyptian, but got lucky in her second marriage to an American. T asks ss about their opinion on intercultural marriage.
-T divides ss in pairs - Ss are given 2 questions to answer after reading the text - Each pair reads a different story on an Egyptian woman who married a foreigner - A member of each pair joins another pair to discuss the different stories they read and their answers - If time allows, ss will read the comments on the article and will be asked to highlight the best and worst comment in their opinion
- T sets the task by providing some useful language on expressing opinions on flash cards as prompts - T asks ss about the forms they use to express their opinions - T elicits/ provides the meaning of the useful language
- Ss are given topics related to intercultural marriage to discuss in pairs - Pairs exchange cards - T wraps up by asking ss about their most interesting discussions
- T highlights and corrects the mistakes related to the language use
