Procedure (35-45 minutes)
T'll present to ss the prepositions "in, on, under, next to, behind, in front" by using two items e.g. a wallet and a bag. T will repeat 2x the actions with the wallet and the bag with all the prepositions. Choral drill once. T repeat the action while Ss turn to say it. T writes on WB these prepositions and highlight the stress on "behind' and next to, pronouns as "nekst to" HO, First, T demo on WB with a bigger set of cut-ups, rearranging the words to form the right sentence. T could mix the words up and ask ss if that sound correct. Show ss prepostion+noun. (Noun always after prepositon). GW of 6, give a set of words to each ss in the group. Ss help each other. Feedback, ss from from each group volunteer to read the sentence.
T go around the classroom demo by asking for an item e.g "where're my keys? They're in my bag" and continue asking where different items are. Next, ask the same questions but ss will respond using the right prepositions. PW for HO. Tell ss this task is a speaking activity and not a writing one. Chest HO to the ss. Show the pic no. 1 as e.g Where's the man? He's on the table. ICQ: "Are you going to write or speak?" "Where is the man?" Feedback: T will ask and ss answer.
PW- Divide ss to A & B, chest the 1st pic of HO Demo, T have ss A raise their hands and T represent A too. In pic 1, ss A will ask " Where are the keys?" T have ss B raise their hand and answer, "They're on the floor" (Get ss to repeat 'floor' bcos this might be a new vocabulary) Repeat one more time. T instruct ss after using all the words above Pic 1 then for Pic 2. there'll be a switch, Ss B will ask the question, e.g "where's the umbrella?" Ss A answer, " It's under the table." Repeat again. ICQ: "Are you going to write or speak?" "Pic 1, who will ask the question?" "Who will answer?" "Are you going to use the words here?" "Pic 2, Who will ask?" "Who will answer?" Feedback: Ss volunteer to answers.
GW of 3, Give ss a blank paper. Name ss 1, 2, 3 and after the demo T will give the pics according to the numbers. As a demo, T group with two ss. T have pic. 1 and give pic. 2 & 3 to the two ss respectively in the group. It's important to Instruct ss not to look at each other pics. T use pic 1 to instruct the two ss to draw what are on pic 1. until picture is completely drawn. Ss with pic. 2 & 3 will take turn to instruct while the other two ss will draw. ICQ: "For pic 1, who will say what to draw?" "Who will draw?" "Are you going to draw everything on the pic?" "When ss with pic.1 finish who will draw?" "Do you show other ss your pic?" Feedback: ss will show each other their pics to see if they are all look the same from the original pic. Who got all correct?
Demo the dialogue with the class. Repeat a few times so that ss understand the question. T: I live in Umraniye. My house is on Bulgurlu road. Class: where do you live? A: Where do you live?
