In this lesson , students will practice writing postcards.The lesson starts with showing ss some pictures to elicit some ideas about famous places around the world and talking about what activities they can do in these places .Ss will be asked to match some postcards to pictures.I ask ss to look at postcard 1 to elicit the features of postcard, the tenses.I will ask ss to look at postcard 2 to find out which words can be left out.Then, I will ask them to imagine that they are on holiday and they are going to write postcards to their best friends. They will write the first draft,Next, they will check their mistakes in pairs. After that, they will publish their postcards on the wall and choose the best one.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Show ss some famous places around the world. Ask ss think about the activities they could do if they visited these places. In pairs ss ask each other "Which place do they want to visit most? Why?".

Exposure (4-5 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Ss read the postcards to match them with their pictures. Ss check their answers in pairs. T gives his feedback.

Useful Language (10-12 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Ss look at a model of postcard and elicit the features of postcard. T ask ss to elicit the topic tenses. Ss read the postcard from New York and decide where the words in the box should go. What type of words are usually left out? Ss check their answers in pairs. Ss read the postcard from Rome and circle the words which can be left out. Ss check their answers in pairs. T gives his feedback.

Productive Task(s) (20-22 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Ss imagine that they are on holiday and they are going to write postcards to their best friends. Ss start writing the first draft. Ss check their first draft in pairs, underline the correct sentences and circle the mistakes. T gives his feedback. Ss write the second draft and publish them on the walls. Ss read the postcards and ticks on the the best on. The postcard that will get the most ticks is the winner.
