To provide gist and specific information listening practice through a conversation between old friends in the context of havent' seen you for ages!
Subsidiary Aims

To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of haven't seen you for ages!
Procedure (30-39 minutes)
T shows a picture of her old friend and tells them a brief story T asks students to talk about their old friends whith their partner. "Do you still see him/her?" " what do you know about their life now" T elicits some examples with the whole class
Pre- teach vocab: T elicits two vocabs from students by giving examples. Reading task: T asks sts " are there any websites where you can find old friends in your country? what are the names of the websites? have you ever used one?why or why not?" T chests HO T gives instructions " read this chatting conversation between Mike and Sofie individually and answer these questions" you have 3 mins. Sts check in pairs T elicits the answers from sts.
T gives instructions. " you are going to hear Sofie and Mike as they meet up for the first time since their schooldays. the first part of the recording is going to be mainly about Mike giving his news. so listen carefully and tell me what are the things he 's going to talk about ;family, work.." T elicits the answer from students.
Recording part 1 T chests HO T gives instructions. " you are going to listen again and decide if these statements are true or false." Pair check T projects the answer key. Recording part 2 T chests HO T gives instructions " we're now going to listen to the second part of the recording where Sofie is going to give her news. Listen carefully and answer these questions" Pair check. T goes through the answers with them.
T gives instructions (If I have time, I will ask them to write the dialogue first for 5 mins) " go to your partner and try to have a similar conversation of Sofia and Mike. pretend that you have met again after few years. " you can start like that ' how great to see you it's been ages, what have you been doing?"
