in this lesson, the students will practise reading in the context of made in Egypt This lesson will start with the lead in stage. In this stage, teacher stimulates interest and activates schemata.Teacher uses CCQs to elicit answers.T. asks them to tell him / her what they know about some Egyptian inventions now or in the past and what things were made in Egypt. Teacher asks the students if they know of any Egyptian inventions. The next stage is the teacher pre-teaches some vocabulary before the students read the text for the first time. So, in this lesson, teacher asks the students to work in pairs to match the words and pictures. The following stage is gist reading: Teacher guides the students to more specific understanding. Teacher tells the students that they are going to read the text quickly to find the answer to the following question; which things do you think Egyptians first built or invented? The following stage is reading for details.Teacher asks the students to read the questions and asks whether they can answer the questions from memory. The students then read the passage again and find the answers in the text.The last stage is post reading . In this stage, teacher generates ideas about buildings that were built in the past by the Egyptians, uses CCQs, and elicits answers and writing them on the board. Teacher asks students to write a short paragraph about famous buildings that the Ancient Egyptians built in the past.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (8-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Since students will mostly be sitting at their desks during a reading lesson, teacher uses the five to ten minute warm up period to get students moving and speaking.One way to do this is to have students stand in a circle and ask them to tell him / her what they know about some Egyptian inventions now or in the past and what things were made in Egypt. Teacher asks the students if they know of any Egyptian inventions. Teacher uses CCQs to elicit answers. After a student has given you a word or phrase you can write it on the board and he can call on a student to go next. It's good to make this stage student- centred, then have a brief feedback.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

The following stage is reading for details.Teacher asks the students to read the questions and asks whether they can answer the questions from memory. The students then read the passage again and find the answers in the text. When they have finished, teacher asks them to compare their answers with a partner. Teacher invites different students to give their answers. Then whole class feedback.

Post-Reading/ writing (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

In this stage, teacher generates ideas about buildings that were built in the past by the Egyptians, uses CCQs, and elicits answers and writing them on the board. Teacher asks students to write a short paragraph about famous buildings that the Ancient Egyptians built in the past. The students can choose pictures of the following buildings. Teacher checks answers.
