In this lesson Ss will skim for gist and read for details from a reading text about horoscope.The grammar which is used in the reading is will for prediction.

Procedure (33-45 minutes)

Lead in (5-6 minutes) • To generate interest in the topic of the lesson

The teacher has a cup of coffee and asks the students about Turkish coffee, then tries to elicit the word coffee reading by turning over the cup, and starting to discuss it by asking e.g Can you read my coffee?and then she gets the student tell her some predictions with using will.

Prediction task (5-7 minutes) • To encourage students to predict content of the text and give them a reason to read the text

Ss will see some images on the board including coffee reading, fortune telling, and horoscope and there are some questions to discuss in pairs or groups. -Do you believe in fortune telling? -Have you ever spend money on it? -When is your birthday? - Do you know your star sign? WCFB

Reading for gist (6-9 minutes) • To encourage Ss to read for general understanding

T gives a HO to Ss including sentences taken out of the text.they should skim and find the connection between them. They are all the first sentences of each paragraph.Then Check in groups,then some Ss from each group come and write the answers on the board.

Reading for details (7-8 minutes) • To practice reading for detailed comprehension

T gives the reading HO with 5 questions to students to answer.Check in pairs or group ,WC

Post Reading (10-15 minutes) • To develope written fluency in the topic

T will give Ss a piece of paper.Ss are asked to write their names and birthdays then the teacher will collect the paper and let each student take one but not his or hers .Then they are asked to write horoscope for each other.Then they will go and tell the person about his or her horoscope.(if there is enough time they are asked to write about more than two persons.
