Description

In this lesson SS learn about the modals in the past through guided discovery based on a listening about Mysterious disappearance. The lesson starts with a discussion about mysterious things that happened to the learners. This is followed by checking the meaning of some words. then SS in pairs discuss what they think happened through the pictures. SS are going to listen to the story to answer the gist question. then SS will listen to part A of the story to answer the questions. after that SS will think of the explanation for Clara's disappearance, compare their answers in pairs and listen to part B for a possible explanation. then listen and chick. T will clarify the past modals that find in the context according to language analysis.

Procedure (37-55 minutes)

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T greets SS .T will ask Ss to discuss any mysterious events happened to them and don't find an explanation. This will be in pairs or groups. T will listen to some of them.

Exposure (10-15 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

SS will be asked to check the words in the box by matching the word with its meaning. this will be in pairs then the WCFB. Then they will discuss the pictures . After that they will listen to part A of the story to answer the gist question" Is the story about a- life in hotels b- Clara's disappearance c- a mental asylum? .then answer the questions for scanning.. SS will do individually then check in pairs.T gives WCFB.

Highlighting (3-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

T highlights the target language by asking SS to answer the questions in the HO. T gives SS 5 minutes to do the exercise. SS check their answers and the teacher gives feedback. WCFB

Clarification (15-20 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T will clarify meaning form and pronunciation by guided discovery sheet. Ss will do individually then check in pairs .T will elicit any errors to correct.in WCFB. For pronunciation stage T will write the sentences on the WB and show the stress and intonation . T will elicite the answers.

Controlled Practice (6-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T will give SS an EX to choose the correct alternative then listen and check . SS will do this Ex individually then check in pairs. T will give WCFB.
