Main Aims

  • To provide gist, specific information and detailed listening practice using a text about flat problems in the context of repairing flat problems

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a flat problems in the context of repairing flat problems

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Set Pictures on the board. Elicit the Situation from the students as much as possible.

Pre-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Pre-teach vocab: ترابيزة رجلها مكسورة ينفع تتصلح ترابيزة جديدة Use visuals, miming & realia to elicit words. Check meaning through CCQs.

While Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information listening tasks

Ask SS the question: Osta Samir? beyeshtaghal eih?? Eih il moshkela? SS answer orally T gives SS questions. SS listen one more time and answer.

While Listening #2 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference listening tasks

SS listen to the second track, concentrate carefully and take notes. check notes in pairs. SS listen one more time to check answers.

Post-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T gives SS cards with specific problem. SS will try to haggling. SS speak with each other in a controlled practice.
