First, i show ss 2 pictures about any famous person or Cairo city and ask them ' Have you ever seen a famous person? or ' Have you ever been to Cairo ?' When a student answers with yes,i have seen ........" , or "yes I have been to Cairo ", I ask another question in the past simple ' When did you see him/her?" or "When did you visit Cairo?' I receive their answers , chose 2 sentences , and write them on the board to discuss them with the student.
After discussing the tow sentences with the ss to differentiate between the tow tenses , they complete 8 sentences with the correct tense , either the present perfect or the past simple.
the ss practice tow additional exercises in which they can change the form of the verb to the correct tense , and they also underline some time expressions in the tow texts used with the tow tenses
The T reviews the forms of the verbs used in the tow previous exercises and the time expressions with each tense , then explains when to use these expressions with each tense
in this exercise , the students put the words into the correct order to demonstrate that they can use the present perfect correctly
