To provide gist and detailed listening practice using a text about shopping in the context of shopping
Procedure (36-47 minutes)
T shows Ss a picture of a fashion model or a picture of a pair of very high heels and try to elicit the marker question from the Ss. By asking some CCQs."Have you ever fallen over because you were wearing high heels?"
After eliciting the marker sentence which is a question'T asks extra CCQs to clarify the meaning and form. CCQs: Am I asking about the future? No -Am I asking about the past? Yes -Am I Asking about an experience in your /her life?Yes Then the teacher elicits the answer and the other questions by asking more CCQs: -If the answer is yes ,how do you answer it. T gets the Ss ask more questions in order to elicit some questions in the past tense. Write one past question on the board CCQs; Is it past or future? Is it about a certain time?Yes T uses timeline to clarify it.
-T chests a HO ICQs :there are 5 questions here -How many questions?5 -Complete them individually -You are going to----------? Complete them -In pairs or alone ?alone -Chek in pairs ,WCFB
Ss will listen to four people answering the question Have you ever bought something that you 've never worn? (Exercise 3 a,b page 31)in part a Ss listen for gist and in part b they will listen for details ,pair check and WCFB
T asks students to write 3questions in present perfect followed by simple past .checking in pairs and getting them mingle and ask eachother.
