Description

In this lesson Subject Pronouns and Possessive Adjectives which will be taught by my colleague Lamis in the previous lesson will be revised by doing controlled and Freer practices. Mostly, the question form of " What is / Who is your / her favorite......? and answering form " My / Her favorite..... is / are..... will be highlighted.

  • To provide students with freer oral practice

Procedure

Warm-up / Lead-in (5-6 minutes) • Raise SS awareness to the next stage.

- Show the photos of famous Turkish actors, artist, band, TV Show, singer and writer on the WB. -Elicit their names to arouse their interest for HO1 which will be used the same photos on it. - Ask questions like : Is she your favorite singer? Are they your favorite actors? etc.

Controlled Practice (10-12 minutes) • To highlight the use of Subject Pr. and Possessive adj.

- Hand out the HO1 - Get SS to complete the blanks individually - Monitor them - Get them to check in pairs.

Semi-Controlled Practice (9-10 minutes) • To prepare SS for free practice

- Regroup the students by giving two or three flower names to them. - Spread the photos ( different from HO1) of famous Turkish people on the ground as inverted ( ss won't see who they are). - One person from each group / pairs will come and choose one photo. Then, They will talk about him / her in groups such as: His name is...... He's an actor. His movies are great. - Monitor and correct them - Get the groups to show their photos to class and tell the class about their celebrity.

Freer Practice (11-12 minutes) • To provide the students with free practice of the target language (TL)

- Give each ss pieces of paper on which different questions are written. "Who is your favorite.....?" and answer table sheet. - Make sure to clarify meaning of any unknowm word. -Tell them to go around the class and ask their questions to different people and take note on their answer sheets. -Choose four or five ss and want them to make sentences using the table they have completed. His ( pointing the ss ) favorite singer is..... Her ( pointing the ss ) favorite actress is....

FOLLOW-UP (4-5 minutes) • Make sure that ss has learned the aim of the lesson.

IF TIME ACTIVITY - Give each pair two different clipped conversations and want them to order. - Give time limit - Get the early finisher pair to read their conversations
