Description

In this lesson,Students will learn about some useful phrases and "I'll" form in order to complain about something in a hotel

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide accuracy and fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of hotel problems

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review and practice of language used for social English phrases in the context of hotel problems

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Show them one luxury and comfortable hotel and one small and lack of some basic facilities hotel.Ask them a question: "Which hotel do you want to stay in?Why?"

Feed in (2-4 minutes) • To give some useful vocabulary to make them understand the listening tracks

Ask them some questions related to the first hotel at the Picture in Lead in. Is sightseeing good? Can you invite your best friend to the hotel for visiting?Yes If there is a problem with the bathroom,what does reception do?He sends somebody up to you. If you complain about something on the phone,what does reception do?He puts you through to the mananger. When you say"I'll be there in my room at 1pm",will you be there on time?Then you are punctual.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through listening

Show Jenny and Rob's pictures and make them listen to the track 1.26 from the coursebook in the context of hotel problems. Ask them who they are,what their job is,where they are from,etc....Reflect some questions on the board and ask them to think about them while listening. Instruction:"Listen to the woman.She is talking about something.And think of questions on the board." And give them the second listening track which includes some essential phrases for the context.(1.27 from the coursebook) Ask them What the problems are? INstruction:"Listen to Rob at this time.You will hear some problems about the hotel.What are the problems?" CCQs;Are we working alone?Yes Are we writing?No Ask them to compare their answers in pair check then whole class.

Useful Language (10-12 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Reflect some useful language on the board and ask them "who says?" and then complete the blanks which have some simple and known words with a little role play.(Reception-Guest) Highlight some useful phrases such as "I'll,send somebody up,put somebody through..." Ask them a question "Do you think Rob liked the hotel?Why or why not?" For feedback,make them listen to the conversation between Jenny and Rob,track 1.29 from the coursebook. And highlight the useful phrases again. For the unknown words,try to give them their meaning,form and pronunciation.

Productive Task (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Give them prompts in their hands about the cınversation they are going to do with their partners.Ask them to make a conversation.One of them will be a reception and the other will be a guest.They have 10 minutes for this task and monitor them. Instruction:"Now,you will have a conversation with your partner.Please look at the prompts you have.Try to ask and answer about the questions." ICQs;Are we working alone?No Are we writing?No Are we looking at the prompts?Yes

Feedback and Error Correction (3-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Write some incorrect sentences that they have said during the production task.Ask them to find what is wrong with the sentences. "While I was listening to you,I have realized some mistakes.While I am writing,please discuss with your partner what is wrong with the sentences."
