Procedure (35-50 minutes)
I will show them a picture of some foods and fruits that make a sandwich but don't tell them at first I ask them what do they understand of these pictures and what is the aim to show them They will understand that this lesson has something to do with foods and I try to elicit the topic. After this I show them a picture of a sandwich and ask them what is it.
I put the words on the board using some pictures , I try to give them clear pictures so they don't need to worry about the the vocabulary. I also give them a HO so they can go back to it later as a reference.
They are going to listen to an audio track about sandwiches in a few countries. They will understand that there are different ways of making a sandwiches and each place has it's own things. After they do the exercise. afterwards they check it as a pair work.
I give them the script as a HO and ask them to read it very carefully for 3 minutes. I ask them about how people make sandwiches in their own countries(the ones that are discussed in the script).
I ask them about different sandwiches that they eat in Turkey and what is their favorite sandwich and why? Before this I tell them about a sandwich in my country so they have an idea of the main topic that is discussed in the class. I ask them to talk about it in their groups afterwards for 3 minutes and tell each other about their faviourite sandwich. As a WC activity I ask one or two of them to tell the class the result of teir conclusion.
I set the task up by using the idea provided in TP points , I tell the students that there is going to be a sandwich bar in ITI soon. and I am going to open it. I have a menu printed and have different sandwiches in it I ask them to fill it and talk about it as a group for a few minutes. After this I put my menu on the board and have a vote after this the best sandwich is nominated and the survey is complete.
I pretend that I opened my shop at ITI. I ask them to buy a sandwich from me and how to buy it. I model a dialogue before getting the class to do it.
I choose a sandwich in my mind from the menu and want students to guess it. I guide them by giving them some ingredients.
