Description

In this lesson, students will learn to write about their favorite restaurant dish and what it is made from, they will also practice reading for gist through skimming a text about my a dish I would order in a restaurant.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist reading practice using a text about a dish I would order in a restaurant

Procedure

Lead in (5-7 minutes) • To reinforce Ss' knowledge of the topic of my favorite restaurant dish

In this stage. I will use pictures to put students in the context of food in a restaurant. I will ask students to tell me what the pictures are about. The pictures will be useful to introduce the text which is about my favorite dish to order in a restaurant. I will stick pictures to the WB and let students figure out the meaning behind them. The first picture will be friends in a restaurant, then I will stick two picture of Dominos pizza and Pizza Hut. The next picture will be a girl eating pizza followed by a pizza picture then pictures of the ingredients of pizza.

Preparing to Write (15-20 minutes) • To familiarize Ss with writing and generating ideas to write about

I will pre-teach vocabulary ( dish , shrimps, though and mouth-watering) see language analysis I will ask students to draw their favorite dish on a white paper individually. I will ask ICQs : are you going to work alone or in pairs? Are you going to write or draw? Are you going to draw your friends and family or your favorite restaurant dish? After 3 minutes, I will regroup the class and every student will get a new neighbor. Students will exchange their papers and each one of them should guess what is their partner’s favorite dish is. I will provide students with a short text about my favorite dish to order in the restaurant. Students should skim the text and answer the multiple-choice exercise individually then check their answers.

Useful Language • To provide clarity on language that learners may find useful for completing writing task

I will cover examples of useful language, such as "My favorite restaurant dish is........." "it is made from......." to provides students with an idea of how they can to produce sentences.

Writing Task (10-12 minutes) • To allow learners to practice writing about their favorite restaurant dish

I will ask students to use the model sentence as an example to write about their own favorite restaurant dish and what it is made from. students will work individually. ICQs : Are you going to work in a group or alone? Are you going to write about your favorite drink or your favorite restaurant dish? Are going to write what it is made from or not? students will exchange their papers once they finish.

Feedback/Error Correction (4-6 minutes) • To provide Ss language feedback on task

Students will peer review and share answers about partners with class. I will use some of students errors examples on board. Ss will make corrections as a group.
