Procedure (37-47 minutes)
T will write " Eating and drinking " on the WB. T will tell the SS " We are going to talk about foods and kitchen and then learn countable and uncountable nouns. Later we will exercise about much, many, a little, a lot, not many, not much, too many, too much.
T will ask SS look at the photo what is in Global SB page:20 and try to imagine life as a chef. T will ask SS " What are the positive and negative aspects of working as a chef?". Then SS will tell their opinions about it.
T will write these 4 questions on the WB. 1- Can you cook ?2-Do you like cooking? 3- What dishes can you make?4- Who is the best cook you know? In pairs, SS will answer these questions. ICQ: How many questions do we have? four ICQ: Will we work alone or in paris? İn pairs. If they finish early T will ask new questions. 5- What makes a good cook? 6-Who are better cook: Women or men? when SS finish T will ask their answers to get FB. But teacher will ask like "Can Metin cook? or " Does Metin like cooking? etc.
T will wirte five problems of cooking and kitchen cleaning on the WB. 1- To give soup a beautiful golden color,..................... 2- Tooo much salt in a sauce?................... 3-To clean a pan after cooking a fish............... 4- To make your kitchen smell good,................... 5- If you want a lot of juice from a lemon,................ Then T will ask what students opinions are to solve these problems. ICQ: How many problems of cooking do we have?- Five ICQ: What will we do ? we will find solitions to solve these five problems.SS will read.After SS told their tips for these problems SS will find out whose tip was correct.
T will explain what storage is ( Storge is a place where we keep something in a special place like a room until it is needed.) SS will read and listen to ( audioscript 1.16 ) the ten secrets from the wolrds top kitchens. SS can follow reading part related to 10 tips while they are listening to audioscript. ICQ What will we do while listenning to audioscript?- we will follow reading part Ss then will read 5 items what are given on the reading and speaking part2 of Global SB page 20. a- food preparation? b- food storage_ c-eatig? d- cleaning? e-the kitchen? SS will put each tips into the correct category on their own and then check the answers in pair. ICQ How many catagories do we have ? 5, ICQ How many tips do we have? 10 ICQ What will we do? we will find out which tip/tips is/are related to those five categories. then T will ask ss if they knew any of given these 10 tips before. SS will put thik mark ( ✔) next to the known tips by the students.T will ask ss if they know any other tips for cooking and kitchen. t will ask what they are.
T will explain what countable and uncountable nouns are.T will clarfy the grammer subject by asking some questions. Exp. "can we count water?" No. " can we count cups, bottles?" - Yes. It means water is an uncountable noun and glass, cup, bottle are countable nouns. ICQ Is water countable or uncountable? uncountable ICQ Is glass countable or uncountable? countable. T will give more example. Tea, coffe, hair, book, furniture, chair, time, minute, second etc ICQ Is furniture countable or uncountable? uncountable ICQ Is chair countable or uncountable? countable. T will write explanations of quantifiers and 2, 3 singular or plural countable nouns/uncountable nouns on the WB. T will give students the 134th page of the Global SB. T will tell students when we want to show the quantity or amount of someting, we use these quantifiers ( a little,,much,a few, many, a lot of, (not) enough, too much, too many. ). SS will read grammar part exercise 1 on page 20. SS will individually match the sentense 1-5 to the meanings a-e . SS will read grammar part exercise 2 and they will complete the blanks in the questions by putting much or many. T will ask the ss why they did put in the blanks much or many. T will explain " If the noun is countable we will use many, If the noun is uncountable we will use much." T will give SS 135th of Global pre-int CB and Ss will do exercise 1 . After that T will modify exercise 2 on the same page ( page 135) to make it more interesting . T will give SS HO . SS will ask those questions at least 3 students in the class. T will ask question for FB.
T wiil explain new words what are givin in the usefull language section. T might use some photos to explain the meaning of these words related to kitchen tools.. T will ask ss which tools you have in your kitchen. T will elicit three sentenses in useful phrases. Then T will ask students to look at the givin photos on page 21 of Global SB. SS will work in pairs to describe the pictures and the differences between them by using those three sentences. ICQ What will we do? we will look ate three photos and descibe them. ICQ What will we use while we are describing the photos? we will use usefull language words and useful phrases. T will ask ss which kitchen they prefer and Why?
T will write /tʃ/ and /k/ on the WB. T will explain the differences between /tʃ/ and /k/ sounds.T will tell some words including /tʃ/ and /k/ sounds.Exp: cat, cut , customer, check,chair. ICQ Which sound is heard sayying cake? /k/ ICQ Which sound is heard sayying chair ?/tʃ/ T will give the meanings of the words what are given in the box at the bottom of the page 21. SS will listen to audioscript 1.17. SS individually find out the sound(s) ( /tʃ/ and /k/ ) which is the in the word. T will check the student answers. S will listen the same audioscript and repeat after it. SS will try to find similar examples inculuding /tʃ/ and /k/. Exp: chair, check, cheese, Church, cake, call etc. T will explain some exeptional words. A few ch- words are not pronunced as a /tʃ/ sound. Exp: chemistry, christmas, chiristian . ICQ are there any exeptional words written ch- but pronounced /tʃ/ ? Yes, exp: chemistry, christmas,
SS will look at the picture at the bottom of page 21. In pairs, SS will guess which counrty he is from and who is he. SS will read the three questions in the second part of listenning. SS will listen to audioscript 1.18 and try to find out the answers of the three questions what are given in the second part of listenning.While ss are listenning to tapescrip, they will take notes to find out the asnwers. ICQ : Which picture will we look at? At the bottom of pge 21 ICQ How many questions will we answer? three ICQ What will we do while we are listenning to audioscript? We will take notes to find out answers. T will give 3 minutes for this.Then SS will share their answers in the class. At the end of the lesson we will talk about important Turkish beliefs about food or kitchen. Exp.On 31th of december, we break down a pomegranate to make our kitchen rich.
