T hangs the picture of two famous tourist destinations in Turkey, "Antalya" and "Bodrum". T asks where those places are, if they've been to those places, if there are many foreigners, and what did they do there. T splits sts into groups and gives them strips of paper in two different colors. T asks sts to come up with ideas for advantages and disadvantages of living in a famous tourist destination and write them down on the papers. Then sts come to the board and stick the papers with advantages to one side & the papers with disadvantages to the other side. T asks sts if they agree or disagree with those ideas.
T projects the sentences in ex. #1 (p78) on board and the photographs of three people who are talking in the tape. T asks students to make guesses about who says which sentence.
Sts listen to the radio programme called My Ibiza and do the first exercise. Sts check the answers in pairs. T shows a paper ball and tells sts to nominate their friends to answer next question.
T plays the tape again and sts answer the True/False questions T has prepared. Sts check the answers in new pairs. WCFB
Sts do the matching exercise #1 (p78) in pairs. One person from each pair comes to board and sticks the formal counterparts on the informal ones. T asks whole class if they agree and why. T uses some CCQs to make sure context of the words is clear for sts. Then T drills pronunciation of the words. Anticipated CCQs: Knackered: If you're knackered, do you want to go out? How come: How come it is so hot in Istanbul? Clubbing: If you're clubbing, can you wake up early? Reckon: I reckon you're 30 years old. Are you? I'm skint: If you're skint, can you buy a new car?
T asks students to think about a place like Ibiza they went before. T shows the ex. # 2 (p78) and tells sts to think about these questions. Then everyone stands up and walks around the room, telling their story to other students.
