Procedure (40-52 minutes)
T writes 'dinner date' on the board. T asks students to comment with their partner what they think the meaning is. T elicits the meaning from various groups.
T tells the students they are going to talk about a dinner date but first the are going to answer some questions. These questions are going to help them organize their ideas. T gives the Ss the questions. T explains meaning of words like 'special occasion, decorated and calamari'
T puts students in pairs and asks them to describe the meal.
T gives Ss a HO and asks them to work in pairs. Ss should describe to each other what is happening and what they are saying. They should also guess who Nigel, Derek and Camilla are T asks Ss what are their speculations
T explains that we are going to listen to 3 conversations that correspond to the 3 pictures. T explains the meaning of different types of water from the text: sparkling, still, tap and also ice and slice. T asks students to listen and find out what mistakes can they find in the pictures compared to what the are listening to. The listening will be stopped at the end of each conversation. Ss are asked to comment with their partner. Teacher elicits the mistakes from the Ss If students struggle with this task T can demonstrate with the first conversation and picture.
T gives Ss a Handout and tells them to listen for the details. T writes the answers on the board and gets FB from the students. Students will have the transcript for the FB. We will just check ones students have failed.
