Description

In this lesson, the students will get the clear image of the past simple regular and will be able to talk about their past easily by the end of the lesson. The lesson starts by showing them the images of my childhood and talking about them. Which will be followed by the starter on pg.46 of headway SB where the students will talk about their grandparents and great grandparents.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will show the S-S images of her childhood and talk about them, so that the S-S will have an idea of what they are going to do in the classroom. T will ask the S-S to do the starter on Pg.46 of Unit 6 on Headway SB.

Exposure (10-15 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T will stick the pictures of Oprah Winfrey and elicit who is she? T will give instructions about what they are going to do next by telling them they have to fill in the blanks on the papers she is going to provide them with. T asks ICQ questions about the task and makes sure the S-S understand what they are going to do clearly. T gives the students the Ex.2 on Pg.46 without the title and asks them to fill in the blanks by listening to the tape script. T asks S-S to read the text after they have filled in the blanks and to decide if the text is about Oprah's childhood or Oprah's job. T will ask the students to peer check their titles and ask them to tell her why they chose it.

T will ask the students to read the text of Ex.3 on Pg.46 of Unit 6 on Headway SB. T will give instructions about what they are going to do next by telling them they have to read the papers she is going to provide them with and then listen to the tape script and answer the questions given to them. T asks ICQ questions about the task and makes sure the S-S understand what they are going to do clearly. T will make the S-S listen to the tape script and answer the questions. T will ask the S-S to peer check their answers, and ask them why they chose their answers. T will ask the S-S to underline the verbs in the text. T will elicit that they are in the past simple.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

S-S will complete text C on Pg47 of Unit 6 on Headway SB. S-S will peer check.

Free Practice (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

S-s will do starter on Pg.46
