To give sts semi-controlled speaking practice to develop their usage accuracy of "going to"
Procedure (42-53 minutes)
T asks students what they remember about Matt from the previous lesson. Eg; What is Matt going to do? Is he going to carry on singing? Is he going to write his own songs? Is he going to make the same mistakes again?
T asks students to do the exercise #1 on page 49 and check in pairs. WCFB
T uses CCQs to clarify problems related to form and meaning. T may draw a timeline to show when the doer decided to do the action, or if the action takes place in past or future etc. Anticipated CCQs are: Is he talking about past or future? Did he decide to do it? When did he decide to do it? Did he decide to do it before? T elicits the negative and question forms of "going to". T clarifies the pronunciation of contractions such as "I'm, He's, You're" and "going to".
T gives sts the practice HO and asks them to do it alone. They check the answers in pairs. WCFB T gives sts the exercise # 1 on workbook (p32), Sts do it alone and check it in new pairs. WCFB
T asks sts what they are going to do this evening. T gives sts HOs which are extracted from exercise 3 and asks sts to discuss what they are going to do using the info on HO. WCFB
