In this lesson SS will clarify how to make negatives for we, you, they with verb be

Materials

Abc 1C hangout
Abc Communicative Game 10

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of pronouns: we, you,they in the context of nationalities, hotel

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of Verb be - we, you,they -negatives

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T asks SS to look at dialogues in ex 2 and highlight the structures - are you... we are not....etc SS then try to fill the chart

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

SS do ex 1C-a on p89 SB

Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

Anticipated problems with Pronouns -we and you for plural in sentences 3 and 7 MPF - we/you for men and women you for plural

Test #2 (5-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

SS listen to 1.29 T elicit all negatives from SS and ask them to repeat

Free practice (15-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

SS play communicative grammar activity 10-Game 1 to reflect and practice their knowledge
