Description

In this lessons, students will practise listening and speaking to describe people's appearance using some adjectives

Main Aims

  • To provide gist and specific information listening practice using an audio about searching for a husband in the context of describing people

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy and fluency speaking practice in a guessing who game in the context of describing people

Procedure

Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Put the picture of the worried woman talking on the phone to the officer on the board. Elicit the situation from the students as much as possible.

Pre-Listening (4-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Pre-teach vocab: جوزي متأخر محامي محكمة مقلم Use visuals to elicit words. Check meaning through some CCQs

While-Listening #1 (5-6 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information listening tasks

Ask SS the question: الست بتكلم الظابط ليه؟ Say that they will listen and answer Q1 in the handout. ICQ: ح نكتب حاجة؟ لأ ح نسمع ونقول؟ أيوة Play the audio then let them answer and check together. Ask SS to read Q2 questions for a minute then tell them to listen again and answer them individually. ح نكتب الإجابات؟ أيوة

While-Listening #2 (6-7 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed listening tasks

Ask SS to read Q3 then "say" the answers. They don't have to write anything for no. 4. ح نكتب حاجة؟ لأ ح نقول لبعض الإجابة؟ أيوة Let them check together before giving them the answers.

Post-Listening (6-7 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the audio and expand on what they've learned

Divide the SS into two teams. Demo with a teacher the "Guess who" game. Use simple instructions. Give them 5 minutes to finish the game.
