Description

In this lesson SS will recall and review present perfect simple. They will have lead-in to make brief link to the previous lesson on reading on the topic, 'Nightmare jobs". Follow-up with further present perfect simple exercises.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • Brief link to the previous lesson and work on present perfect simple.

S1: T will give short HO inquiry questions, "Find someone who..." to ss. They will mingle and answer. T will show visuals on PPT of the questions and will elicit the language from the sts. T will write down the form of PPS orally and do WCFB (+) Subj+ has/have + Verb(ing) (-) subj + hasn’t/haven’t + verb(ing) (?) has/have+ subj+ verb(ing) she/he has worked, she/he has cleaned...,they/we have eaten..., they/we have finished.... Has/have they finished

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

PW,T will give two different answers to two different ss in pairs. 1. "Yes, I did various jobs when I was a student." 2. " Oh yes, I've done hundreds of jobs over the years." T, " read the answers and discuss their possible questions." PW. Then T-WCFB. CCQ: T will ask the SS the following q's; pair discussion and WCFB Q1: Which sentence refers to a completed action in "finished" time. what is the name of the tense used? Q2: which sentence refers to a completed action in time" Up to now" What is the name of the tense used. Q3: How do you form the affirmative, negative and question forms of the tense you identified? T will write down the answers of Q3 on the CB,with few other examples to differentiate between affirmative, negative and question forms. Example: I have seen, I haven't seen, have I seen. I have bought.., I have bought...have I bought...I have eaten...have I eaten...have I eaten... FBCW

Teach (8-10 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

T will make two teams (red and blue) GW. T will stick the headings " Finished time" and Time" up to now" on the CB and give out the time expressions randomly. SS will discuss in groups and stick the answers on the CB under the correct headings. ss will add three more time expressions. Ss will discuss in groups and answer. winning team gets the applaud. FB draw the timeline and Ss answer the time expression on CB. CCQ: T will ask ss, " When I was a student, I used to work in a shopping mall ? am I asking about the future?"(S-No)T-" Am I talking about the past?" (S-Yes) T-" Am I asking about the specific time?" (S-No) T-" Am I talking about an experience in your life" (S-Yes).

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

T will give HO and SS will then complete the sentences with time expressions(a-f) individually. SS will then compare their sentences with others in the class, mingle. T will elicit sentences from individuals ss. FB

Free practice (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T will give two different HO to the ss. PW and then mingle. They have to find the response in box B to the sentences in box A.
