Procedure (36-45 minutes)
I will show some pictures of a famous Turkish figure( Mustafa Kemal Ataturk ) one by one, and ask them to describe him as a famous person, soldier, husband and father. I will ask them to pair up and talk about their own positive and negative characteristics.
Ss are asked to listen to a mini receptive lesson and talk in pairs about the people. I will ask Ss to read the text again quickly and underline the adjectives that describe the characteristic of the people. I will elicit the opposites of the adjectives in order to connect the activity to Ex.2 I will ask Ss to pair up and do Ex.2. I will ask Ss to tick the words they know and circle the ones they do not know.
I will make a list of words that they do not know and explain them with MFP of the words.I may use the WB or cut up cards. I will either give the definition of the words or use them in a situation to clarify the meaning. I will tell Ss the form of the words and help them with pronunciation.
I will do pron activities 1 and 2 and help the students using drills and repetitions. I will divide the class into 2 groups and give Ss vocabulary exercise 6 from WB p.19. to do. Ss will check their answers with the whole class. I will present them Vocabulary matching exercise and the whole class will be engaged. I will ask Ss to make pairs and talk about the qualities they look for in an ideal friend, roommate, workmate, partner and make a list of 6 most important qualities. I will monitor Ss and take note of their mistakes. I will ask each student to read out 2 qualities and find out who else in the class chosen the same qualities.
I will give them a gap-fill Ex.7, WF p.19.in groups of 2. They will check their answers together and I will give FB. I hope I can reserve time, I will show them some adjectives, they have learnt, on the cards and ask Ss to pronounce them with the correct stress. FB. DEC
