Description

In this lesson,students will learn how to write a covering letter in a right way.The lesson starts with showing the students some pictures and asking them some questions as a warm up.Then,I will provide the students with a model of a covering letter.Finally,students are going to move to the critical thinking part in which they are prepared to write the target letter at the end of the session.

Main Aims

  • To provide process and product writing practice of a covering letter in the context of success.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of contractions in the context of success.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Students will see some pictures and guess the topic by asking them some questions about the pictures and finally I elicit the topic from the students.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

I will give them a model of a covering letter to know the steps and how to write it in a good way and finally I will elicit from them how to write a covering letter.I will ask them to do exercise 1,students then check their answers in pairs.

Useful Language (5-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

The students will do exercise 2 in pairs.I will write the model example on the WB and go for MFP(will+inf) and finally the students check their answers in small groups.

Productive Task(s) (3-5 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

students will write a similar letter to Horizons Unlimlited in response to their advertisement on page 54.

Feedback and Error Correction (3-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

I change some of the Ss's writings together and ask them to read the paper .
