Main Aims
-
To provide exposure and practice of lexis related to physical descriptions.
Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide practice of listening for gist and specific detail.
Procedure (41-45 minutes)
Lead-in (8-9 minutes) • To engage the students
Elicit the sentence frames
Options (9-10 minutes) • To check the words they don't know
I ask the students to divide the words into words they know and don't know. I show the pictures of the words they don't know. I also check the pronunciation difficulties.
Listening (14-15 minutes) • To provide practice for gist and specific detail
I set the context of the listening. Students do the exercise and then I check the answers. Finally, for feedback, I provide the transcript to check.
Speaking (10-11 minutes) • Make them speak
I put them in different small groups and make this competitive (they get points for a correct answer).
