Description

In this lesson, students make comparison between 'be going to' and 'will', produces speeches using 'will'

Materials

Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, learners will have a better understanding of 'wiil' and 'be going to' and will have had practice using that language and be better able to talk about unplanned future

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a role play in the context of solving problems in the hotel

Procedure

Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To generate interest in the context of the small dictogloss

-T draws three people on the board with speech bubbles. T: Who are they? What are they talking about? -T elicits the answers and writes on the board.

Listening Task (4-5 minutes) • To contextualise and introduce target language

-T puts Ss into 3 groups of 4 and arranges the class. -T makes a small dictogloss T: Listen and just write some words. (Ss listen and write) ICQ- Are you listening or speaking? T: Listen again and add more to your notes. -T puts Ss in pairs. T: Check your notes together. Try to complete the sentences. -T shows the dialogue on the board. (FB on the board)

Highlighting target language (6-7 minutes) • To highlight the target language so that learners are focused on it.

-T shows HO2 and hands it to Ss T: In your groups put these information on the timeline. -FB; T lets some students come to board and write the answer. - T shows HO1 and hands it to Ss T: Now look at the dialogue and write your sentences on the timeline. --FB; T lets some students come to board and write the answer.

Clarifying target language • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language
