In this lesson, students will be exposed to different kinds of vocabularies on names of places and giving directions.

Procedure

Lead-in (4-5 minutes) • To generate interest in the place names

Students will be divided into 2 groups. They will line up in front of the board. On the board, there are different pictures of places. When teacher say one place, each one from the 2 groups will catch the paper and get it. When they are finished, we will count together how many they got from each team

getting to know teacher time ;) (3-4 minutes) • students will get to know me and help students to have a rapport

Students will ask any questions that they want to know about me. Only for today, because it's first day.

Listening task (6-8 minutes) • to practice listening and contextualise and introduce the target language

Before listening, SB p. 63 NO.2 one volunteer student will come in front of the class and close his/ her eyes. Teacher will give instruction between "Turn right." Turn left. Go straight on. if the volunteer student is following the instruction well or not, the seated students will have a FB. If the volunteer student make a mistake, other volunteer student will help him/her. then SB p.63 No. 3. students will listen to [T.8.12] 1. listen and fill in the blanks by themselves 2. Peer check 3. Feedback the whole class

Highlighting target language (17-20 minutes) • to highlight the target language so that learners are focused on it

Students will do a pair work. They will change partners 6 times so that they will have a conversation to 6 different students. ICQs: How many students are you going to have a conversation? (6) Are you going to ask same question to different student? (no) Are you going to write down your friends' name after you have a conversation? (yes)

Language practice (12-12 minutes) • to provide controlled both written and oral practice focused on using the language accurately

SB p.63 NO. 5 Students will be divided into 2 groups. (one woman + 4 men/ 5 men) They will be given a big paper. Students will write down the directions from ITI to 4. Levent Metro station
