To review and practise question forms in the context of a biographie.

To practise gist and scan reading using a text about Lucian Freud in the context of a biography.
Procedure (37-50 minutes)
Set the context by showing ss the picture of a famous Tunisian artist. Brief O/C discussion.
Pre-teach: painter: /ˈpeɪn.tər/ sailor: /ˈseɪ.lə/ prize: /praɪz/ sell: /sel/ by showing ss pictures and using CCQs.
Ask ss to read the text quickly (set time limit to one minute). Give ss the gist reading task handout and ask them to answer the two questions. Peer check. O/C feedback (show answer key on the board). Give ss the scan reading handout. Ask ss to do the task setting time limit to 3 minutes. Peer check. O/C feedback (show answer key on the board). Draw ss attention to the TL.
Use one sentence from the previous task as an exemple to draw ss' attention to the TL. Highlight form, function, meaning, phonology and punctuation.
Give ss controlled practice handout and give them 3 to 4 minutes to do it (closely monitor the students while doing this task). Peer check. O/C feedback.
Give ss handout for the information gap activity. Give clear instructions. Demo. Monitor ss closely. O/C feedback (error correction if needed).
