Procedure (35-51 minutes)
T shows ss pictures on the smart board Ss name the activities in the pictures T elicits "daily life" T writes on the board 3 activities mentioned in the pictures (a simple task to challenge the memory of ss)
Pre-teach the following words: "railways" (eliciting through a picture) "medal" (eliciting through miming/picture) "meal" (eliciting through a picture) "handbag" (eliciting through miming) "film star" (eliciting through picture) Practise the pronunciation of the words with ss.
T tells ss they will have an activity about the words they have just learnt T gives a matching task (handouts) T elicits from ss that some words go together (verbs and nouns, compound nouns)
T gives ss scrambled sentences (3 for each group) T asks ss to unscramble them (challenge) (group work) T asks ss to asks questions to ss from other groups
T asks ss to listen to the recording and guess the compound nouns they hear (4 is enough)
T gives ss handouts (sentences) T asks ss to guess the appropriate words (group work) (challenge)
