Description

In this lesson students learn about the past regular and irregular verbs.they learn about affirmative ,negative and questions.I'll give students variables activities in the form of worksheets.Students will work individual,pair work and groups

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of past simple in the context of taught studied -hated - talked

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of past simple in the context of Where did you go to school?

Procedure

lead in (5-10 minutes) • to generate interest in the topic of of the past simple.

I'll ask students what they remember about the listening passage and I'll ask them some questions about the past and give them free chance to talk .

Practice activity 1 (5-10 minutes) • To provide controlled practice focused on using regular verbs.

Students look at the list of infinitives in the table and fill in past simple verb forms. When students have finished, i will ask them to look at the reading passage to check their answers.

practice activity 2 (1-5 minutes) • tp provide controlled practice focused on classifying regular and irregular verbs.

students groups the verbs from exercise 1 into four sets according to the grammar heading that I have explained at the first of the stage.

practice activity 3 (15-20 minutes) • To provide controlled practice focused on using different forms of the past.

i will help students to form past simple negatives and interrogatives through giving them examples some examples on the board and i will give them two worksheets and they will be asked to do them individually then check with their partners. then, i will ask them to complete the conversation with past simple forms. This will be done individually and check in pairs. Finally, i will ask them to read the conversation in pairs .
