Description

In this lesson the students learn about adjectives and how to use them in their daily life language

Main Aims

  • To provide the students with the positions of adjectives

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide an opportunity for the students to use adjectives in describing.

Procedure

Lead in (5-7 minutes) • To generate interest in using adjectives for describing people.

I will draw two stick figures on the board, one of them is tall and the other one is short. Then, I will draw a tree on the board with some words to describe the two figures. the students will work in pairs to form two sentences for description.

Building Context (5-7 minutes) • To narrow the context to a more specific area and continue to generate interest in using adjectives for describing.

I will use some pictures and ask them to describe these pictures.

Presentation (5-7 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, prounication and form of adjectives so the students know how and when to use them.

Using the pictures of the previous stage, i will elicit some sentences about these pictures and write them on the board. Then I will ask them to think in pairs and decide which are the adjectives and where do we use them in the sentences. I will underline the adjectives.

Practice (5-7 minutes) • To provide controlled oral and written practice and foucsed on using adjectives accurately.

The students will look at ex. 1 on page 28 to think what they are going to do. I will elicit they will fill in the banks with adjectives from the list. I will make a model for them to follow. Then, they will individually. After they finish, I will let them listen to the track1.43 to check their answers. I will get them read the sentences out loud.

Production (58 minutes) • To proivde freer oral and written practice and focused on using the adjectives more fluenlty.

I will get some different pictures of celebrities and distribute them. in pairs, the students will work together to form sentences to describe these pictures. they will write their sentences after reading them out loud in front of the class.
