Description

In this lesson, the learners will practice speaking for fluency in the context of describing how they spend their time and reporting back on how people in their world spend time. first, they will read and fill in a questionnaire based on a survey to find out if we spend our free time doing things that really matter to us. Next, they will listen to an audio where the Tl is included then do a matching exercise and finally engage each other in a discussion regarding the same.

Main Aims

• To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of describing how people spend their time.

Subsidiary Aims

• To provide deduction reading/listening practice using a text about how we spend our time in our daily life in the context of day to day activities.

Procedure (30-44 minutes)

warmer/ Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set the lesson context andgenerate students in.terest

Project on the WB the Questionnaire’s introduction. ask the Ss what the survey is trying to find out. Ss give their answers Tt projects the answer.

Reading Task (6-8 minutes) • To draw Ss attention to the target language

Tell the Ss you are going to give them a questionnaire to read and tick statements that are true for them they have a few minutes to work it out individually give the Questionare .

Listening Task (8-12 minutes) • To higlight the language the Ss will use so that they are focused on it.

Tell the ss to listen to the audio and make notes on, Things the speakers spend their time on, things they would like to change and things they are not happy about. Play the audio Ss make notes after every Ss check in their notes in pairs One students from each group reports on their notes

Practice activity 1 (7-10 minutes) • To provide a controlled practice for the language in use.

Give the instructions to the SS Match statements from the questionnaires with the speaker Ss’ check in their answers in pairs Wc feedback Project the answer key.

Practice activity 2 (6-9 minutes) • Engage the Ss in a more meaningful practice of the language in use

In groups of 3 tell the Ss to swap their questionnaires Ss find out any differences or similarities they have with their friends Ss ask for more information about the same. Ask the Ss to mingle and report back on what they have learnt about their peers. FB. Ask the Ss if there is something they are happy with or would like to change and why.
