"With your group I want you to match the pictures with the words." ICQs Are we going to match them alone? (no) Are we going to match them with our group? T gives HO2 students in their groups match the phrases with the expressions. T plays the model tape for the Ss. Ss listen carefully. Ss practice pronunciation. T checks the students stress the phrases correctly. Repeat the drill if necessary T combines the to phrases together using the pictures from previous exercise I like.. I don't like.. I love.. I hate ..
T shuts the tape and try to get students to remember some sentences from the previous stage. I love animals. I like soap operas. I don't like dancing. I hate shopping for clothes. T highlights that after love, hate, like , don't like we can use 'noun' or 'verb+ing' " After words like Love, hate, like, don't like we use a noun (animals) or a verb+ing like (dance+ing)" "We use the plural form for most nouns because we are talking about them in general" "If a verb ends in e. we drop the e and add -ing (dance-dancing)" "If a verb ends in a consonant+vowel+consonant we double the final consonant (shop-shopping)" CCQs After words like love or hate can we use a noun? (yes) Can we use a verb? (yes) Do we use the verb as it is? (no we add -ing)
T gives students HO3 Ss work in their groups to answer the exercise. ICQs Are we going to work alone? (no) Are we going to work in our group?(yes) Are w going to answer only one of them? (no) Each groups takes a turn to answer the exercise. T asks students "Are any of these sentences true for you?" T gets students thinking about the sentences we had today.
T gives students HO4 "Work alone not in pairs. Write down three TRUE sentences and three FALSE sentences about things you love, hate, like, don't like. Remember to use the phrases we took earlier. You have three minutes think carefully and show anyone" T demos the task "I love museums. I don't like dancing." SS have three minutes to think about their sentences. T divides students into new pairs using animals Cats, dogs, rabbits, birds, fish. 'Cats are together..etc' "Now I want you to say your sentences to your partner. And they have to guess if it was true or false." T might Demo the Task if needed with one of the students.
Each pair says one of their trickiest sentences and the WC guess if it's True or False. T monitors carefully during production stage making notes on pronunciation errors and other mistakes Ss might make. T writes the most common errors on the WB. T elicits the correct form. T congratulates ss on a job well done.
Ss sit in a half a circle and starting from the right side of the room students read one of their sentences. The next Ss says the opposite and adds one more sentence from his list. T demos I like apples I don't like apples, I love shopping. I hate shopping, I like music..etc
