Procedure (45-59 minutes)
To display a picture of a shop on WB and get Ss engage in the context of the lesson.
Elicit words " this, that, these, those " to Ss. Provide Ss with HO to fill in gaps with " this, that, these, those ". Model an example. Monitor Ss doing the exercise. Check the answers with WC. Ask Ss to listen to two conversations in a shop and write the prices in these conversations, Ex5a. Drill/Elicit some vocabulary that might block Ss understanding. Provide the Ss with the HO to fill in the gaps with prices. Model the task and use appropriate CCQs for clarification of the task. Monitor Ss while doing the task. Check the answers with WC.
Provide Ss with HO. Group Ss in pairs. Model that one S is the customer and the other one is the shop assistance. Ask Ss to continue the Ex based on the HO. - Excuse me. Do you have any.....? - How much is this......please? - How much are those .......please? - Can i have........please? - No, that's all, thanks. - Here you are. Ask Ss to change roles. Ask Ss to plan a shopping trip to the store to buy the following items ( shoes, shirt, bag, hat ) and using the following phrases ( how much? do you have? )
Group Ss in pairs and ask them to tell each other what they bought from the store. Model to Ss Monitor Ss
Clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the following task language with Ss. - How much is......? - How much are this, that, these, those.......? - Can I have.......?
Group Ss in groups of four.
