to enable the students recognize and use the preposition of time in the context of routine
Procedure (32-53 minutes)
Students will discuss about what they usually do in the morning, evening or at the weekend. The meaning of blocking vocabulary will be elicited through a drawing of sunrise till sunset with hours on the WB.
Students will be exposed to a reading text. They will be provided with a gist question which will guide them while reading. The gist question will be, What is the text about? Check answer with partner
Students will be provided with a scan for details question where they dig deeper reading the text. The question will be, What does Sundus do at weekends? check answer with partner.
Words will be hanged on the wall. Students will try to place the words with the correct preposition. The teacher will focus on MPF in this section. CCQ's for Clarification and drilling for pronunciation will be employed. A listening task will be used as FB. The teacher draws a table on the WB with the categorization of the preposition. Students will come to the board and write the words in the correct category. After the categorization ends. CCQ's will be asked, With which preposition do we use days? ....................................do we use year, month or parts of the day? ...................................do we use specific time?
Students will be provided some words on a flashcard. Students will work in pairs. One student reads the word written on a flashcard while the other guesses the preposition that goes with it. Students will exchange turns. The teacher will use note taking as monitoring. Common mistakes will be corrected.
In this stage, Students will practice the TL in a more personalized context creating their own sentences in the context of routine and daily habits. Students will be provided with a guideline to follow while speaking in order to maintain a smooth conversation. They will also express their partner's habits and routine using the 3rd person singular pronoun. Students will work in pairs and exchange turns.
