To provide clarification and practice of language used for 'addition' in the context of fashion
Subsidiary Aims

To provide gist and detailed listening practice using an interview with a model as a listening in the context of fashion
Procedure (30-49 minutes)
- Eliciting the topic of the lesson from the Ss by showing them couple of models walking on a stage. - In groups, they will exchange ideas about the statements in the ex.1.
-Ss will listen ex. 2. It is an interview with a model. -They will put the topics in ex.1 in the correct order. -After the listening, put them in pairs and give them the answers on a piece of paper for them to check (pair checking).
-Ss will do ex. 3. -They will be asked to write down 2 or 3 most important words in the interview (there aren't any correct words, but the words need to be related to modelling). -Ask Ss the words, write them on WB. Suggested Answers: 1. photogenic, photographer, agency, book. 2. photo shoots, catwalk, advertisements, magazines. 3. travel, independence, money. 4. passive, initiative, obey. 5. curiosity, fantasies, questions, dumb. 6. bad, confidence, spot. -After writing down words, Ss will be asked to discuss the topics in the 1st ex. using the words in groups.
-Ss will discuss what other professions receive salaries that Ss think are too high and aren't deserved (e.g. footballers/ actors / singers). -Try to guide the Ss with gestures instead of speaking.
-Ss will see marker sentences about additions from the listening text. -Elicit and highlight the difference between the structures. Eliciting: -Tell Ss, what the model in the interview doing while discussing the topics: The model is explaining her thoughts, and she uses besides/on top of that/what's more to give more explanations. Why she uses these words? (To add more information/ to explain further.)
- After highlighting, clarify the meaning. - Give handout about the form and also meaning.
- Before the ex. ask CCQs: When do we use besides, in addition, etc.? (To add more info.) Where in the sentence we use them? (Beginning of a clause, in speaking in the middle of a sentence, also.) What are they called? (Addition.) - Page 33, ex. 1. - Ss will choose the correct linker to complete the sentences. -It will be checked in pairs with the answer key.
- Ask Ss to choose 1 of 4 topics they want to talk about. - Give them 2 min. to think about at least 5 things to say using TL - Divide them into 3 groups, and let them discuss in turns.
