Procedure (48-60 minutes)
The teacher shows Ss a photo of different kinds of food and asks them : What kind of food do you like on this picture? Ss answer I like apples. I like bananas etc............. What does your father, mother, brother, sister like?
Ss look at the picture p. 28 for a minute . Ss in pairs listen to CD 69 and practice the questions and answers I model the words on myself ( I like bananas, what do you like? ) Ss in pairs practice the same sentence & question, they could use the pictures on p. 28 as a guide to point to their choices and to help them remember the names of items.
I point to an item on the WB and say I like bananas. what do you like? Ss practice in PW to go through the different items on p.28
Ss listen to CD1 ( 69) and repeat the names of items they listen to. T. use CCQs to check Ss understanding of the names of items pointing to the picture & Ss give the name in chorus
ss listen to CD1 ( 71) ,they listen to Fiona and tick the food and drink she likes in ( 1a ) Ss in pairs practice ( I like............, I love ..........., I drink a lot of ................ , I eat a lot of .................. ) Ss match the picture with the correct sentenc in ex.3 p. 28. ss listen again to CD 1 ( 71) and choose the correct words ex. 5b
Ss in pairs talk freely about what do the like of food items & also their family members in a simple story ( I and my family went to a restaurant ( I love fish,/ my brother loves meat/ my sister likes chicken. I drink a lot of orange juice / my father drinks a lot of tea / my mother drinks a lot coffee.
Teacher monitor Ss doing their free practice and picks up their mistakes and highlight them using highlight feed back
Ss in pairs complete the crosswords Ex.1 WB p.42 - teacher monitor & help those who can't decide the picture's name Ex.2 p.42 is given to Ss as homework to do at home , they complete the words for sentence building structure.
