To provide clarification, review and practice of language to use related vocabulary correctly in the context of renting a flat
Procedure (39-50 minutes)
- Write 2 correct and 1 false sentences about places in Istanbul by using there is/are - They will decide which one is false - They will write 2 correct and 1 wrong sentences about Istanbul in groups - Papers will be swapped with another group - They will find the wrong sentence in the new paper - Each group will sound out the wrong sentence, the writer of the sentence will check it
- Show them the picture on p.41 - Tell them they are going to find/rent a flat - Hand out the picture on p.40 to each group - Tell them to match the words to A-E on the picture - Give a class feedback and point out that they can use sitting room instead of living room - Ask them to match the words in the 2nd activity to the furniture in pairs - Check the answers, meanwhile check the pronunciation and some extra information sink/washbasin, chair/armchair, cook/cooker
- Teach them that rent, space and information are uncountable - Give them the questions - Tell them that all the needed information is given in the plan of the flat - Set the pairs - Give them 2 mnts - Group feedback - Hand out the answer key
- Check if they remember the meaning of countable and uncountable nouns - Draw 1 column on each side of the WB - Put the words in the middle - Give them 1 mnts to decide in groups - Say them to come to the board and classify the words - Feedback - In pairs tell them to fill in the gaps - Class feedback
- Give them the next activity - In pairs tell them to fill in the gaps - Reflect the answers on the board - Ask them to add two more questions
- Tell them to ask each other the questions - Tell them to write down the most surprising answer of their partner - In group tell them to find the most surprising answer - try to get some of their mistakes to correct their language on the boar altogether - Get some class feedback
