Procedure

Warmer/lead in (10-15 minutes) • Create an interest and set the context

talk about travel, ask who traveled and where, make a list of where have you been, and check to see if others have been to the same places

pre teach vocab (5-10 minutes) • teach vocab that might be unknown to Ss

teach vocab: merchant: a person whose job is to buy and sell products in large amounts, especially by trading with other countries temple: a building used for the worship of a god or gods in some religions sting (stung): Bee be mugged: if it happened to you travel bug: become very enthusiastic about traveling

Exposure (25-35 minutes) • expose Ss to TL

Ask Students about Marco polo, see what they know, play tape 14 (half of it) listen and answer why did people travel in the past, and why people travel today? then give Exercise 2 solve it play tape 14 again and check answers

Highlighting target language (25-35 minutes) • highlight the TL

give exercise 1 (folded paper) then give 3 minutes to write the correct answers check in pairs and in groups unfold and solve exercise 2 and check in pairs and in group give exercise 3 (matching) and let Ss guess the answer, listen to tape 15 and check answers

Practice (15-20 minutes) • questions and answers
