Procedure (30-41 minutes)
4 questions will be written on the board before the video is played; the questions being: 1)Were the tourists giving the directions or asking for them? 2)Could the boy read the map? 3)Where did the tourists want to go? 4)Were they really lost? Then students are supposed to watch the video (in 3 minutes) and answer the Qs in pairs (in 2 minutes). Finally teacher will ask Ss to come up with the right answers (1 min).
1.T tells the class the instruction that Ss are going to listen to a conversation and answer the 5 following questions, then using CCQs T makes sure Ss know what to do, e.g. Are you supposed to take notes?, Are you supposed to answer these 5 Qs? 2.After the Audio was played another instruction will be given to Ss that is they have to listen to the conversation again and fill the blanks in Ex b. 3.Finally having checked their answers in groups, they will tell the right answers to T. 4.T will make sure Ss are familiar with the useful phrases and explain the new ones by means of giving examples in which the phrase is used and also will write synonyms if necessary.
1.T asks Ss to underline the key words of the 5 sentences written in their books and tells them that they are going to listen to a conversation and order the directions, T then monitors Ss underlining key words. 2.After playing the audio T asks students to check their answers with their partners and finally say the right answers to the T.
(While Ss are checking their answers of previous Ex T will draw a map on the W/B for this stage) 1.T will create a chain drill starting from him/herself by asking a Q, i.e.How can I get to the post office? a particular student responds, then turns to the student sitting next to him/her and asks another Q from the map and the chain continues
1.T asks Ss to read the conversation and guess the blank spaces in groups using the map at the top of the page if necessary. 2.The audio will then be played and Ss will check if they were correct and finally they tell T the right answers. 3.T will play the audio again and asks Ss to repeat in the pauses. (with emphasis on rhythm and intonation) 4.Ss will be given a piece of paper each and they are asked to form a conversation in pairs using the model and substituting specific information by the ones written on each paper. (T monitors the class thoroughly)
