To provide Ss with clarification/review and practice of time phrases with 'at', 'in', 'on' and 'every' in the context of evenings and weekends

To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of evenings and weekends
Procedure (37-49 minutes)
-Project some photos that show different weekend activities. Ask the Ss: which one represents better your weekends? Why? - Try to encourage every S to participate.
-Stick the cards with the prepositions 'in', 'on', 'at' and 'every' around the classroom. -Place the cards with the time expressions facing down on a table in the middle of the semicircle. - Instructions: You will stand up and pick a card. Stick it under the correct preposition. Everybody at the same time. - Do a demonstration. - When the Ss finish ask them to sit down and give them the answer key. Instructions: look at the answer key. If there is anything in the wrong place, stand up and change it.
- Tell Ss where these phrases come in a sentence. - Highlight the use of the prepositions: 'on' + days, 'in' + parts of the day, 'at' + times Remind them: 'at night', 'at the weekend' - Drill some sentences.
- Instructions: I will give you a text, don't unfold the paper. Choose/circle the correct word: 'in', 'on', 'at' or 'every'. You will work alone. You have 2 minutes. ICQs: Will you work in pairs? No. - Peer check. - Give them the answer key.
Cards game. Prepare the tables on the second row in advance for this activity. Single tables. Write on the board the words 'in', 'on', 'at' and 'every' in red. Write 'eight o'clock', 'afternoon', 'Saturday' in green. Instructions: - Stand up and mingle. Sit at the tables in the second row, in pairs. - Choose a color (green/red). Dont look at the cards yet. - Reds, raise your hand. This is what you have in your cards - pointing to the words in red on the board. -Greens, raise your hand. You have expressions like these ones in your cards. - Select a S for a demonstration. Sit on a table where everyone can see. T: When I say 'one, two, three', we will turn a card. If the expression is correct, we say: 'snap'. The one who does it first takes the cards. Do it 2 or 3 times. ICQs: - Do we turn the cards at the same time? Yes. - What do we say if the expression is correct? Snap - Who takes the cards? The fastest or the slowest? The fastest. -Monitor. Look for mistakes the Ss might make. Write them down.
- Divide the class into 3 groups (2 if they are not many). Ask them to sit at the same table. - Set the first part of the activity. Instructions: Select/circle the correct word. You have 1 minute. Give them the answer key (1 for each group). - Now, make questions out of this sentences. Write an example on the w/b: Do you watch TV every evening? T: Write 5 questions. You have 2 minutes. ICQs: What are we going to write? Questions. How many? Five - Second part. Instructions: You will stand up and ask your questions. Find 2 people who answers YES to each question. For example: find 2 people who watch TV every evening. Write the two names on the box. ICQs: What are we going to do? Ask questions If someone answers 'yes', what do we do? Write their names in the box.
