Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Put SS in two groups OHP slide no1 Ask SS to discuss if the facts are true or false. GW OHP the answers Introduce today's topic

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Ask SS to work alone. Distribute the discovery text and ask SS to keep it face-down. Set 5 minutes for SS to read the text and answer the questions. Solo At the end of the task, ask SS to check answers in pairs. PW

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

SS alone. Distribute the clarification HO#1 and ask SS to keep it face-down. Set 2 minutes for SS to answer the questions. Solo At the end of the task, ask SS to check in groups. GW OHP the clarification slide and elicit the M/F. After eliciting, drill for pronunciation. T - W/C SS alone. Distribute the highlighting HO and ask SS to find the other passive verbs in the text. Solo Ask SS to check in pairs PW OHP answers

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

SS alone. Distribute the All things online HO and ask SS to fill in the gaps with the correct form of the verbs in parentheses. Solo (3 mins) Ask SS to check in pairs PW Play recording 10.4 for answers and conduct feedback.

Freer Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with freer practice of the target language

SS in two groups. Distribute the handout for the game and ask SS to keep it face-down. Describe the game, demo it and ICQ Monitor closely for errors and conduct delayed feedback.
