  • To provide detailed listening practice using a text about body parts in the context of monsters

Procedure

Lead in- Activating schemata (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T introduces herself T talks about what we will do in the lesson T divides the classroom into 2 groups T asks ss to help her with the puzzle Ss complete the puzzle parts on the board to find the human silhouette

Pre-Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T elicits "head, shoulders, knees,toes, eyes, ears, mouth, nose" through mimics and visuals. T drills for pronunciation. T writes the words on the board

Listening 1- Head, shoulders, knees & toes (6-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information listening tasks

T instructs ss to repeat the song first. (2-3 times practicing in the classroom) T instructs ss to watch the video and repeat the moves (2-3 times) T praises.

Listening 2-My monster (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference listening tasks

T explains the task to the ss T pairs the ss T hands out the papers T reads the text T monitors SS complete peer work T collects the papers

back up activities /differentiation (0-0 minutes) • To provide ss with meaningful tasks if they finish early

ss who finish their monster start coloring it. T elicits and drills "Hands, arms, open, close, clap" SS sing along with the song "open, close"
