Description

In this lesson, students are going to be introduced to some adverbs (Definitely, probably, likely and unlikely) used to talk about the future, especially when making predictions. They are going to practice these words through the exercise 2e. Then, they will be given an exercise in which they are going to choose the correct tense between the future perfect or the future continuous. Finally, they will have an oral activity in which they are going to discuss and talk about some future predictions.

Main Aims

  • To introduce students to the adverbs ( definitley, probably, likely and unlikely ) and how they can use them to talk about the future, especially when making predictions.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To get the students to effectively communicate as possible as they can.

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Introduce students to the adverbs by eliciting the adverbs of certainty and possibility from them.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

To expose students to the TL in context by introducing them to some adverbs

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

To encourage the students to use TL by answering the exercise.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

To do the exercise from the workbook in which the students will choose the correct answers between future perfect and future continuous. And try to clear any remaining problems about these two tenses.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

To further check the students' understanding by doing a communicative activity.

Semi-Controlled & Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

To further consolidate the TL and allow some production through an exercise.
