To provide clarification and practice of the adverbs of manner in the context of expressing their abilities and experiences
Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide product writing practice of a three sentences in the context of using three adverbs describing their daily routine.
Procedure (28-41 minutes)
Ask students to write two sentences about their dreams . Ask students to write what they will be able to do in the future
Give students two hand outs to answer them . Match the adjective with the corresponding adverb. complete the following sentences with the suitable adjective and adverb.
Ask Ss CCQs to clarify the function of the adverbs Is there a difference between happy and happily? what is the difference? Is there a difference between slow and slowly? what is the difference? Where do we add the adjective? where do we add the adverb? Give Ss hand out to discuss How do most of the adverbs form? Which adverbs are irregular?
Give Ss hand out to choose the correct answer. Choose the correct adverb ( loudly- Slowly- badly- happily- fast- quietly- well-carefully) You should drive.........., there are a lot of cars. They are singing and dancing ..........., everyone is enjoying their time. She could have an accident, She is driving .......... Would you please speak ..........., I can't understand what you are saying? Girls, your mother is sleeping, play......... what's wrong with him, why is he shouting ..........? He is injured ..........,he bleeds a lot. He is speaking French........., he can guide the French tourists.
Write three sentences of your daily routine using any three of the adverbs that you learned today.
