To provide fluency speaking practice using unreal conditionals in the context of expressing past regrets and future wish
Procedure (37-45 minutes)
- Ask the ss to read written down quotes and choose the one they like the most. - Give the ss the quotes. - Ss will discuss in pairs and choose one. - T selects one quote with the model sentence for the TL. - T will project the sentence on the WB: " If dream were available in waking it would make every man a Dante or Shakespear. "
ask the Ss to read the questions Answer the questions then check in with their partners - T gives a list of questions for the ss : 1. Is this a real or unreal situation? 2. What other verbs can we use instead of would here? 3. What is the other verb form in the first verb? 4. What is the verb form in the second part of the clause? 5 Ss give their answers 6 T highlights the answers on WB
- Tell the ss to look at the sentences in the HO. - Tell the ss to find the difference in meaning in groups of 3 then they can peer check with the other groups. - Project the sentences on the WB - Let the ss give their answers then mark on the WB the: 1. Meaning, 2. Form and 3. Pronunciation / stress if necessary
- Tell the ss that they are going to complete the sentences so that it means as the first??? - Check in pairs -monitor the students and take notes on the common errors for wc feedback - Project the answers on the WB
- Project the instruction on the WB - Give students cut outs of paper. - Ss write answers on the cut outs without showing their partners. - Ss then exchange the cut outs within their groups. - give Ss 2 minutes to to look at the questions and insert their partners choices. -Ss give their answers,monitor and take notes of answers that entertain students,linguistic inaccuracies. -error correct
