Procedure (40-50 minutes)
the teacher will show some pictures to elicit the word birthday, after that some pictures of activities that people often do on their birthdays are shown and the words are elicited.then the students are put in pairs and asked to talk about how they celebrate their birthdays.after that they report to class what their partners do on their birthdays.
the teacher will tell students that they will listen to a conversation about somebody's birthday and they should answer the question: How does he feel about his birthday? students will listen and then check their answers in pairs and later it will checked one more as a whole class activity.
The students will be given the script with some gaps to fill in,they will listen one more time and try to fill in the gaps with correct words,then correct answers are given and they practice the conversations in pairs.
the teacher will ask the students to discuss how they would like to do on their next birthdays in pairs for 2 minutes and then tell the class about their partners.
pictures of three speakers are shown to the students and they're asked to think about what they think the speakers would like to have as birthday present and why.they work in pairs and discuss their reasons,after the pairwork the teacher takes some whole class feedback.
after predicting the presents,the listening task is played and students are asked to listen and check their predictions.then they check their answers one more time in pairs and after that whole class.
the teacher will give the students the table and ask them to listen again and check their answers after.then the teacher asks students randomly to read out the correct answers.
the students are put in new pairs and asked to talk about what they would like to get as a birthday present and why.they should also make notes of their partners' answers so that they can report to class later on.
